The Tippmann 98 Custom Pro Platinum like its forebear is highly customisable and for an entry level marker is very affordable. The key strength of this model is its ability to look extremely different from what you actually purchase through the customisation of almost every available part of the gun.
This is made possible by the unique Split Receiver Design, which provides a much easier access to the important internal components for simplified installation of grip upgrades, and modifications that you want or need.
Accessories? Plenty of room.
The Picatinny rails mounted on the gun also make it easy to install other upgrades and accessories such as sights and a grip, which might not be needed now, but add to the long term flexibility and options available to the player as time passes and experience grows.
A grip upgrade is an extremely important part of a player experience, and although entry level markers have adequate grips, as a player progresses they will realize that they have a certain preference for certain brands or types of grips. These grips differ on the playstyle and type of matches, be it woodsball, or speedball, and a sniper or fast run and gun kind of playstyle. Such ease of changing modifications in the field and off give the Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Pro a significant advantage and comfort of mind. This is especially important when you need to replace spoilt or worn our grips in the field.
The Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Pro has a Easy-to-Remove Power Tube Design with self-sealing/locking gas line secures the valve in place and eliminates two bolts from previous design making maintaining the marker quicker and easier, a marked improvement over the older Tippmann 98 Custom model. To add on to that, it has a lower recoil or kick, very important when maintaining consistency and accuracy.
Know your gas
Also another great feature to save value for beginners who don’t know the difference between Co2, compressed air and nitrogen, the Tippmann 98 Custom Pro Platinum is compatible with all of them. This is great, because usually C02 costs much more to refill compared to compressed air, which some paintball rental fields refill for free.
Another recommended upgrade for beginners just trying out the sport of paintballing is also to replace the barrel. Usually, Tippmann provides an adequate barrel but for better ranged accuracy and consistency a better custom barrel is used, and many people invest in one almost straightaway.
Also, since the Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Pro as a mechanical marker has a lower rate of fire generally, it can be upgraded for a small fraction of the cost to become and electro-pneumatic marker compared to a new purchase altogether. The E-grip upgrade is recommended for that purpose.
UPGRADES! Make your Tippman a paintball minigun.
How the E-trigger works is that it basically upgrades the entire firing mechanism to be activated by electrical current. This in turn reduces the pull needed on the trigger to fire a shot, giving better fire control. On top of that, as a result of the consistency of the gas output used per shot, accuracy and consistency is improved, along with the lifespan of each tank of gas. The installation, or rather, upgrade of an E-trigger also allows for different fire modes, which is great, especially if the user plays speedball, as a higher fire rate is usually better.
The E-trigger allows for 5 types of fire rates. Semi auto, auto response, 3-shot ramping, 3 shot full auto, and turbo Semi-auto releases one ball per each trigger pull. 3-shot ramping requires 3 trigger pulls and the next trigger pulls will fire 3 shots per pull; much like semi auto mode but at three shots per trigger pull.
Auto response fires one shot for each trigger pull and one shot for each trigger release, to a maximum fire rate of 5 balls per second. Turbo fires one shot for each trigger pull until the time between pulls is less than .25 seconds, then shoots one shot for each pull and one shot for release.
This gives excellent flexibility in your firepower ability, and when combined with all the customization options available and easily installed, the Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Pro will last you for a long while and give you your value for money, be it in woodsball or speedball.
